Will Young

Architect

Will holds a strong belief that architecture should be spirited and sophisticated, embracing its region, community, and natural contexts. As a Colorado native, he gains inspiration from the iconic, simple vernacular forms of the American West. And as a studio artist who works with cast glass, cast bronze, clay, steel and concrete, Will freely explores materials and ideas between his art and his architecture. His passion for the craft of building and his understanding of and respect for building materials results in projects of unique clarity and beauty.

Will enjoys all facets of project work, from conceptual design through construction completion, and he is well-versed with projects that require vigorous internal and public review processes. He advocates that good design naturally and seamlessly incorporates the tenants of sustainability, and among his numerous award-winning projects are several that are USGBC LEED Gold certified. Over the past 30 years he has worked on commercial, performing arts, recreation, community center, destination resort, and custom residential projects.

Will is active in the arts community and has served on several boards, including the Carbondale Clay Center, Red Brick Center for the Arts, and Theatre Aspen. He has been an adjunct faculty instructor in ceramics at Colorado Mountain College, a resident artist and studio assistant at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and a guest design critic for the University of Colorado Summer Design Program.
