Kayla Miller

Intern

Kayla’s early academic interests were rooted in STEM, where she developed a strong analytical approach to problem solving. Over time, these interests naturally evolved toward design, where she became fascinated by architecture’s ability to shape the spaces around us. She is particularly drawn to the idea that the built environment can deeply influence emotional and physical well-being, as well as the strength of our communities. She is motivated to create work that is innovative not only in sustainability and design, but also in how it contributes to urban environments that foster meaningful social connection.

Having grown up in rural western Colorado, Kayla chose to pursue her architectural studies at South East Technological University in Waterford, Ireland. Studying abroad has allowed her to broaden her perspective on architecture and design. Experiencing both European education and American cultural contexts has helped shape a well-rounded outlook on sustainability, community-oriented design, and the role architecture plays within the public realm.

Kayla has a strong passion for creative work and enjoys exploring different forms of making beyond architecture. Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, she spends time in the pottery studio, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and exploring the mountains that shaped her upbringing in western Colorado.
